You don’t need to be ‘religious’ or a regular church goer to have a funeral led by the Vicar, we are here for everyone at all times and in all places.
When someone you know and love has died, it can be a very daunting and anxious time.
A funeral led by the Vicar can be held in church, in a churchyard (if there has been a prior arrangement), by a graveside, or at a crematorium.
The Vicar will be there to support you every step of the way.
Your first port of call should be the funeral director who will liaise with the Vicar for the best time for you and your family to have the service.
Then you will meet with the Vicar to arrange a service that is perfect for you, and will capture the essence of your loved one.
Each person is unique – in personality and in life experience. A funeral here at on the Island will allow you to give thanks for the unique person you knew and loved in a way that gives comfort and hope. Hope is not just for the person who has died, it’s for the people who remain behind. It gives us something to hold on to. We are surrounded by creation with signs of things that die and come back to life, and that’s a wonderful metaphor of hope.
Your Vicar is also happy to discuss any plans you would like for your own funeral. Death is inevitable, and taking about it can bring about a feeling of relief that when your time eventually comes your family and friends won’t have to worry about what your favourite hymn or scripture reading or poem was because you will have made those decisions yourself.
